Chairperson of a primary school board of management

Volunteer chairperson sought for two of our primary school boards of management.

Location: Dublin South City & Dublin North County.

It is working to transform the learning environment for all pupils so that they are properly prepared for life in the twenty-first century.

Educate Together schools are state-funded, child-centred and democratically run and guarantee equality of access and esteem to students irrespective of their social, cultural or religious background.

Each of our school boards of management comprises nominees from the school community and is an independent corporate body registered with the Charities Regulator.  The chairperson is nominated by the patron and works to uphold the characteristic spirit of the school and provides leadership to the board of management and support to the school principal.

Applicants for the volunteer role of chairperson should

  • Demonstrate experience of chairing a board or a committee, and/or demonstrate leadership/management experience
  • Exercise personal and professional integrity  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of Educate Together  
  • Conduct board business with objectivity and a non-judgmental approach  
  • Have the capacity to think and act strategically
  • Be willing to learn about and adhere to school administration and management processes and requirements
  • Be available for 4 to 10 hours per month

This is a voluntary, unpaid position.  Training is provided.
