Board Director with Human Resources Experience

The Organisation: The Bridge Project is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. It is a community based organisation that has been working to reduce the recidivism rates of adult offenders in the greater Dublin region since 1991. Bridge envisions a future where all those with lived experience of the criminal justice system, are afforded opportunities to develop their full potential, reintegrate with families and society and attain employment. 

Bridge is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors consisting of key stakeholder agency representatives as well as individuals with a range of relevant experience and knowledge.

The Role:

General Role of The Board of Directors

  1. The Board of Directors are accountable for ensuring the company meets its legal and regulatory obligations, and for the performance of the organisation.
  2. Each Director is an equal member of the Board and has the same responsibility as the other Directors to ensure the provision of adequate financial and human resources for the success of the organisation.
  3. Directors provide appropriate oversight, analysis, challenge and leadership to the Executive Manager in the pursuit of its aim to provide an effective and high quality service.
  4. Directors have a particular role in supporting the performance of the Executive Manager in meeting agreed goals and objectives and monitoring the reporting of performance.

Human Resources Role

  1. To contribute HR expertise to the corporate governance decision making processes.
  2. Monitor the development and implementation of Human Resources and Organisational Development Strategies to support the organisation’s service planning.
  3. To ensure that all HR policies and practices of the organisation adhere to good employment practice requirements and relevant legislation and is fair and transparent.
  4. To support the Executive Manger in developing management capacity and capability at all levels of the organisation.
  5. Input on all aspects pertaining to HR and employment.

  6. To promote Equality and Diversity and a positive and engaging culture

Board Meetings: There will be 6 board meetings a year. Meetings are held the last Friday of every other month between 8am and 10am. The meetings will take place in Francis Street, Dublin 8.
