Join the Board of the DanceSport Federation of Ireland (DFI) as Finance/Accounting expert!

Are you passionate about promoting DanceSport and have strong financial management skills? The DFI is seeking a dedicated volunteer to serve as Treasurer on its Board. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial health and sustainability of a vibrant, growing organization that supports DanceSport across Ireland.

Role Overview: The Treasurer will oversee the financial operations of the DFI, ensuring adherence to policies, transparency, and sustainability. This critical role involves collaborating with other Board members and stakeholders to achieve the organization's financial and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management

• Oversee financial operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Monitor income, expenses, and cash flow to maintain financial stability.
• (Optional) Manage the budgeting process, including annual budgets and financial forecasts.

2. Financial Reporting

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports.
• Present reports to the National Council for review and approval.
• Ensure compliance with Irish accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

3. Banking and Cash Management

• Manage DFI’s bank accounts, including deposits, withdrawals, and reconciliations.

4. Financial Planning and Analysis

• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Identify risks and opportunities, recommending actionable solutions.

5. Audit and Internal Controls

• Coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard DFI’s assets.

6. Financial Governance and Compliance

• Ensure transparency and accountability in financial matters.
• Support the National Council and committees with financial guidance.
• Ensure corporate governance by maintaining the required number of directors and educating directors on their fiduciary responsibilities.

7. Financial Policy Development

• Develop and update financial policies and procedures to strengthen management practices.
• Educate and train DFI members on financial best practices.

8. Collaboration and Communication

• Work collaboratively with other Board members, officers, and committees.
• Communicate financial information effectively to all stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of Irish accounting standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion for DanceSport and the mission of the DFI.

This volunteer role provides a rewarding way to make a meaningful impact on DanceSport in Ireland. As Treasurer, you will play a vital part in shaping the organization’s future while promoting transparency and sustainability.

Board meetings are monthly on zoom/teams. Every 3/4 months in person meetings.
