The Organisation:
Multiple Myeloma Ireland, is the only charitable organisation in Ireland exclusively dedicated to supporting patients, families, and carers affected by Multiple Myeloma and related conditions. It is also a member of Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE), the umbrella organisation encompassing multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis patient groups and associations across Europe.
Despite being the second most common form of blood cancer, myeloma accounts for only 1% of cancers in Ireland, with an average of 384 patients diagnosed each year based on recent figures from the National Cancer Register. Multiple Myeloma Ireland recognises the crucial role of information in helping individuals come to terms with their diagnosis and understand their options for treatment, care, and living well with myeloma.
As a voluntary organisation, Multiple Myeloma Ireland is committed to providing comprehensive support for patients and their networks, ensuring access to the best possible information, support, care, and treatment. Core to its mission is the strategic imperative of raising awareness about Multiple Myeloma and related conditions.
In addition, the organisation also extends resources and assistance to healthcare professionals, offering grants to bolster research for new treatments and advancements in clinical practice.
