Role Description:

Director/Trustee( General) of Irish Men’s Sheds Association

This is a volunteer position on the board of Irish Men’s Sheds Association CLG (IMSA).

IMSA is looking to expand its board and to ensure strong governance and leadership of the organisation.

The Director of IMSA will have all of the duties and responsibilities associated with a company director (trustee) according to the Companies Act.

Purpose:

To provide strong governance and leadership to IMSA as part of the IMSA Board.

Key Accountabilities:

· Act in the interests of IMSA at all times

· Strong management and governance of IMSA

· Perform tasks assigned by the Board within agreed timeframes

· Be an active participant in Board meetings and in any Board sub-groups.

Required Competencies

· An understanding of the role of the board in a charitable organisation

· Experience of working at board level would be advantageous but not essential

· Energy and Enthusiasm

· Ethics and Integrity

· A commitment to the ethos and values of IMSA

· Ability to work on a team and on own initiative

· Strong Communications Skills

Some other Competencies that may be advantageous but are not essential

· Knowledge of or experience of any of the following areas would be an advantage:

o Engagement with the Men’s Sheds on a local level

o Engagement with community-based organisations

o HR

o Wellbeing and Health Promotion

o Marketing/PR

o General Management

o Fundraising

o Political Science / Social policy
