The Organisation is a registered not-for-profit charity working to improve the lives of individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing persons and their families and to support professionals and other organisations working with them. The Organisation operates through its national network of resource centres, which are centres of excellence for services and supports to individuals with a hearing loss and their families. The Organisation offers information on all aspects of deafness, provides specialist services and advocates improving general health, education, employment and social inclusion outcomes.
The Organisation has approx. 80 staff and an annual budget of over €7m.
