Monasterevin Community Centre was first established in 1927 has been the focus of community development for over 75 years.
Monasterevin Community Centre (MCC) committee manages and maintains the Community Centre for the benefit of all residents within Monasterevin. The Centre is the only community facility in the area which serves the local population 4,300 and is an important element in promoting community development and cohesion. In response to this, MCC is currently focusing on the redevelopment of the Centre in an ambitious capital project entitled Monasterevin Community Centre – The Next Phase Forward 2022. Monasterevin Community Centre Ltd (MCCL ) a socially inclusive, non profit organisation set up to provide a facility that supports and assist community activities for the benefit of the community of Monasterevin
In Aug 2020 Kildare Co Co awarded MCC committee tenure of St Johns Council Hall-Monasterevin Council Hall (MCH) in Monasterevin. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard, Due to Covid 19 pandemic restrictions and constraints have prevented the MCC committee to allow the community groups full use of either venues.
MCC and MCH are fully committed to social inclusion and the primary aims will be to improve facilities and access to services, thereby increasing the opportunities for the disadvantaged of our community. This in turn will assist individuals and groups to integrate more into the local community.
The main sources of income are generated from Room hire, grants and voluntary donations
