Photo Museum Ireland is the national centre for contemporary photography. Established in 1978, formerly the Gallery of Photography, we are one of the longest-established and most popular arts organisations in Ireland.
Photo Museum Ireland leads the development of contemporary photography in Ireland by nurturing, supporting and promoting artists at all stages of their careers. Our primary goal is to create greater awareness and appreciation of photography as an art form in Ireland.
Photo Museum Ireland realises its’ vision for photography in Ireland through:
- Curation of a free, dynamic programme of free exhibitions showcasing great art
- Conservation and archiving of the flagship National Photography Collection
- Discussion and critical debate on contemporary issues of identity & place
- Provision of subsidised Artists’ digital studios, darkrooms and production facilities
- Specialist photography bookshop & artist print sales
- Training courses, outreach and education programmes
- International promotion through touring exhibitions and publishing

Photo Museum Ireland receives Strategic Funding from the Arts Council as well as project funding from the Dept of Arts, Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin City Council, Creative Ireland, the European Commission and other State and international bodies.
Photo Museum Ireland is a Company Limited By Guarantee (CLG) and is a registered charity regulated by the Charities Regulatory Authority. It is governed by an experienced Board of Trustees to the highest standards required by its status.
