Gorey Family Resource Centre has been in operation since 2010. We are one of 121 Family Resource Centres (FRC’s) nationwide delivering Ireland's largest nation community-based family support programme.

The primary purpose of the FRC programme is to combat disadvantage, and to strengthen and empower individuals, families, children and communities. A central feature of the FRC programmes the involvement of local people in identifying needs and addressing the issues they face. FRC’s provide range of universal and targeted services and development opportunities that address the needs of families and individuals.

Each FRC is led by a Voluntary Board of Directors which aims to identify and address the specific needs of their local community. The FRC programme is core-funded by Tulsa – the child and family agency.

Gorey FRC is seeking socially conscious individuals to devote their time to becoming a Board Member for our organisation. If you are someone who has the knowledge and expertise to build a strong organisation and to deliver a sustainable service, then this is the position for you.

Board Members are expected to attend about ten board meeting per year as well as participate in Sub-Groups. You may also be asked to be reasonably accessible for ad-hoc meetings in between scheduled Board meetings and specific task committee meetings.

The Board of Gorey FRC is responsible for giving overall strategic direction to the organisation, defining controls to safeguard the organizations resources, creating annual plans, overseeing authority levels to management and liaising with the key stakeholders.

We particularly welcome applications from people who have skills and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in HR
  • Experience in Finance
  • Experience in Health and Safety
  • Experience in working with Vulnerable people
  • Experience with board governance of public organisations
  • Experience in leadership roles
  • Interest in working with diverse and vulnerable communities
  • Interest in giving back to communities
